Indoor Air Quality
Particle Pollution is composed of solid particles and liquid droplets in the air.
Some particles, such as Dust, Dirt, Soot, or Smoke, are large or dark enough to be seen with the eye, while a microscope can only detect others.
PM 2.5
Fine Inhalable Particle, with diameters less than 2.5 microns.
Indoor PM can be generated through cooking, combustion activities (including burning candles, fireplaces, use of unvented space heaters or kerosene heaters, cigarette smoking), and some hobbies. Indoor PM can also be of biological origin.

What are VOCs?
Volatile Organic Compounds are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. They include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short or long-term adverse health effects.
VOCs are consistently higher (up to ten times) indoors vs. outdoors.
Thousands of products containing organic chemicals emit VOCs.
While using products containing organic chemicals, people can be exposed to very high pollutant levels. Elevated concentrations may persist in the air long after the activity or use is completed.

Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, odorless, incombustible gas formed during respiration, organic decomposition, or combustion.
CO₂ is a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.
Carbon Dioxide is used in refrigeration, carbonated beverages, fire extinguishers, aerosols, fertilizer production, and many other applications.
It is found in consumer products, indoor and outdoor air, natural environments, and human activities.

The World Health Organization’s standard for comfortable warmth is 64°F (18°C) for normal, healthy adults, appropriately dressed.
WHO recommends:
For people with respiratory problems or allergies, not less than 61°F(16°C)
For people who are sick, disabled, very old, or young, a minimum of 68 °F (20°C)
Due to variations in humidity and clothing, temperature recommendations for summer and winter vary:
Summer: 73-78 (°F) / 23-25.5(°C)
Winter: 68-74 (°F) / 20-23.5(°C)

What is Building Pressure?
Building Pressure is due to a higher or lower volume of air supplied into space than air returned to your HVAC source, resulting in negative or positive indoor pressure.
A Building’s Interior Air Pressure depends on the air-tightness of the building and other forces such as wind, exhaust loads, and amount of make-up air.
Pressure
A good rule is to operate your building at slightly positive pressure (+.02in. to +.03in. water column) concerning the outdoors.
An imbalance between the supply and exhaust air creates positive pressure inside the building vs. the pressure outside.
These very light pressures can make a huge difference in building comfort and efficiency.

What is Dew Point?
Dew Point Temperature is the temperature at which air needs to be cooled (with constant pressure) to achieve a relative humidity of 100%.
At this temperature, the air cannot hold any more water in a gas state, and water vapor condenses into liquid, usually rain or fog.
Dew Point
Dew Point is a good indicator of comfort. Most people find Dew Point temperatures less than 60 (°F) comfortable.
The higher the Dew Point temperature (e.g., above 65 F), the more moisture there will be in the air and the more “muggy” it will feel.

Finally
An Indoor Air Quality Product that …
Analyzes nine air quality factors every second thanks to sensors inside the device.
The lightbar changes into five colors according to the air quality.
GREEN
If all the readings for PM2.5, PM10, VOC, and CO2 fall within a “GOOD” range.
YELLOW
If any one or more of the readings fall within a “SATISFACTORY” category.
DARK YELLOW
If any one or more of the readings fall within a “MODERATE” category.
ORANGE
If any one or more of the readings fall within a “POOR” category.
RED
If any ONE of the readings falls within a “SEVERE” category.
